2004 marked the arrival of PUMP, the new band of former BRAINSTORM vocalist Marcus Juergens, on the map. After the release of their debut album “Against Everyone’s Advice” the band went out on the road to support German guitar wizard AXEL RUDI PELL on their 2004 European tour. The shows were very successful for PUMP and the band won a lot of new fans here. After these shows, they had the chance to play the German dates with US legend QUEENSRYCHE. 2005 was a very hard year for the band then. They had several legal problems with their old label and managed to get out of the deal somehow at the end. Instead of breaking up, they started to write songs for the new album “Breakdown To Breakthrough”, a title which explains itself. Marcus Juergens (vocals, ex- BRAINSTORM), Axel Reissmann (guitar), Ulli Hauff (guitar), Stephan Buerk (Bass) and former SANVOISEN drummer Achim Keller found a new partner very fast in the German label METAL HEAVEN. In Fall 2005, the band again entered the Area 51 studio (GUANO APES, KREATOR, UFO) to record the new album together with German top producer Tommy Newton (VICTORY). They stopped and played a few festivals during the recording sessions (United Forces OfRock, Metal Inside Festival), where they approved songs like the fast “Blood On The Blade” (about the gouverment of the USA), the riff monster “Revolution On my Mind” (about the politics of therecord companies and the music biz in gerneral. It’s time for a change!), the groover “Higher” or the Tommy Newton co-written hard rockers “Alright Now” or “Save Me”. With “Breakdown To Breakthrough” PUMP show that traditional Heavy Rock 2006 doesn’t have to sound like back the days. The world-class production and the up to date songwriting makes the band sound like what they are: A band that believes that Heavy Rock has a big future, if you combine the old-school feeling with the current one!
