Akira Kajiyama made a debut as a member of the band, PRECIOUS in 1987. His guitar technique and expressive playing drew a lot of attention. After the breakup of the band he took a break for a while but returned to the scene in 1996. Together with Yukio Morikawa, a former vocalist of ANTHEM, Akira recorded the RAINBOW tribute album, “Niji Densetsu (Legend of Rainbow)” (1998) on which Joe Lynn Turner (ex- DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW) was invited to play as a special guest. Meanwhile Joe was so impressed with Akira’s guitar playing that he asked him to play on his album “Under Cover 2” (1999). JOE LYNN TURNER these days is regarded as one of the leading voices when it comes to Hard Rock. His now over 30-years long spinning career includes many classics incl. recordings with RAINBOW, DEEP PURPLE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and HTP amongst others.

Since “Under Cover 2”, the two musicians have built a good relationship, and it led Kajiyama to have more involvement in Joe’s solo album  “Holy Man” (2000) - not only as a guitarist but as a songwriter. He wrote seven tracks including the title track for this album. In 2001 Kajiyama and Turner wrote all the songs together and released the JOE LYNN TURNER record “Slam”. Akira handled the guitars on the Japanese leg of the follow-up  tour of this album. The guest bassist for the tour was Glenn Hughes (ex DEEP PURPLE), which led the HTP (Hughes Turner Project). In the HTP Japanese tour, Akira Kajiyama again handled the guitar and had performed on two songs of the HTP’s first album.

In March 2005, Joe Lynn Turner came to Japan to promote his latest solo album “Usual Suspects”. During this promotion tour Akira and Joe played an acoustic gig, and once again this led to record “Fire Without Flame”, a blistering bluesy influenced Hard Rock album, on which Kajiyama handled all instruments and the production himself, whereas Turner took over the vocal duties. “Fire Without Flame” is another fine effort of these 2 artists which will undoubtfully please any fan of the aforementioned bands!
