CLOUDSCAPE
The Swedish metal act Cloudscape rose from the ashes of a band locally known as Doctor Weird in the southern parts of Sweden who played several support gigs to well known bands on the Swedish metal scene and also performed at the well known Sweden Rock Festival in 2000. Cloudscape was formed in 2001 by Micael Andersson (Lead Vocals), Björn Eliasson (Guitars), Patrik Svärd (Guitars), Hans Persson (Bass) and Roger Landin (Drums). At the end of 2002 Cloudscape decided to try and introduce their demos to the music industry and contacted production and management company RoastingHouse Productions in order to get assistance from them due to their influence to the music industry. Cloudscape describes their music to be melodic, semi-progressive, symphonic heavy metal. Vocalist Micael Andersson and guitarist Björn Eliasson are the main composers in Cloudscape and the lyrics are written by Micael Andersson and drummer Roger Landin. The bands influences goes all the way back to to the 70´s with bands like "Yes", "Rush", "Deep purple", "Kansas" etc and through the 80´s up to today with bands like "Dream Theater", "Symphony X", etc. Micael counts "Bobby Kimball" (Toto), "David Coverdale" (Whitesnake), "Russel Allen" (Symphony X) and "Jorn Lande" (Masterplan) to his favourite vocalists.
During 2003 several great promising demo reviews were published in different magazines and webzines on the internet which automatically got people to show interest in Cloudscape. In these times the market is flooded with “projects” and “namedropping” but this is a real genuine metal band!
In May 2004 Cloudscape was invited to enter the prestigious RoastingHouse studio in order to record their self titled debut album produced by Anders “Theo” Theander (Pain of Salvation, Last Tribe, Pathos etc) and Pontus Lindmark. Their debut album was mixed, mastered and completed in June/July 2004.
CRIMSON SKIES
Swedish melodic metal outfit CLOUDSCAPE released their self-titled debut album in early 2005. The response from press, fans and reviewers all over the globe turned out great and CLOUDSCAPE played several gigs especially in Sweden in order to promote the album which in October 2005 gave Cloudscape the opportunity of performing live at “Progpower Europe” in Holland which was CLOUDSCAPE’s first gig outside of Sweden. Cloudscape have been booked for several live shows during 2006 including some well known festivals and they are also talking about doing a smaller tour in Germany later in 2006. The new CD called “Crimson Skies” was once again recorded at Roastinghouse Studios with Pontus Lindmark producing the album and Anders “Theo” Theander as executive producer. The band explains, “that the new album follows the footsteps of the debut but with being a bit more melodic and progressive though nevertheless still as heavy as the debut.” ““Cloudscape” included some really old songs from our early days but, on “Crimson Skies” all songs are “new and fresh” and we are really satisfied and excited about it”, adds the band’s lead vocalist & composer Mike Andersson. Mike Andersson is also the lead vocalist in the forthcoming project band “Planet Alliance” which is to be released later in 2006 on Metal Heaven and will include Bob Daisley, Magnus Karlsson, Anders Johansson among others.CLOUDSCAPE itself still consists of Mike Andersson (vocals), Bjorn Eliasson (guitars), Patrik Svard (guitars), Haynes Pherson (bass) and Roger Landin (drums). The artwork was also once again handled by Mattias Norén
