CHRIS CAFFERY

CHRIS-CAFFERY_400

CHRIS CAFFERY truly is one of the most respected and versatile guitarists in the Metal world of today. Starting in 1984 with the band HEAVEN, he first met producer Paul O’Neill who introduced Chris to US Metal legends SAVATAGE in 1987 with whom he in the beginning appeared as “hidden” guitarist and keyboard player for a couple of live shows. After recording albums with both BIG MOUTH and DIRTY LOOKS (both 1988), CAFFERY again joined SAVATAGE in 1989 for their “Gutter Ballet” album and tour.

In 1990, CAFFERY together with his brother Phil then formed the band WITCHDOCTOR, wrote songs with the late Ray Gillen for SUN RED SUN and finally pulled out the US METAL classic DOCTOR BUTCHER in 1994 which he had recorded together with SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva.

“Dead Winter Dead” (1995) saw CAFFERY joining SAVATAGE as a full-time member and quickly becoming one of the leading forces behind the band. “Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12-24”, a breath-taking instrumental from the aforementioned album written by Jon Oliva and Paul O’Neill, became the starting point for O’Neill’s monster Christmas project TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA which since has been out on arena tours in the US every year with CAFFERY as guitarist and sold more than 1 million tickets on the latest tour.

The SAVATAGE release “The Wake Of Magellan” (1997) and a touring project entitled AMERICAN ROCK LIVE which in 1998 featured Mike Terrana (MASTERPLAN) on drums and ROYAL HUNT’s John West on vocals, was followed by performances of both Chris and Terrana on METALIUM’s debut album in 1999. After recording and touring with SAVATAGE’s “Poets And Madmen” in 2000/2001, CAFFERY helped out his friend JOHN WEST playing guitars on his “Earthmaker” (2002) album. In 2003, CAFFERY was heard on guitars on a couple of songs he had written for the debut album of SAVATAGE singer Zachary Stevens’ new band CIRCLE II CIRCLE.

The year 2004 - the time was finally right for CAFFERY’s first solo album entitled “Faces” which was right away followed by the CD “W.A.R.P.E.D.” in 2005. These releases for the first time saw CAFFERY also taking over the lead vocals duties. His band consists of Paul Morris (RAINBOW, DORO) on keyboards, Jeff Plate (SAVATAGE, METAL CHURCH) and Yael (FIREBALL MINISTRY) on drums and Dave Z on bass guitars.

“Pins And Needles” exactly continues here. The songs definitely are deadringers for any SAVATAGE fan once again. However, there is a more powerful, aggressive, experimental and focused attack that is sure to catch the ears of any metal fan. The album was produced by CAFFERY together with Nik Chinboukas at Nik’s Hot Tracks Studio, Spin Studios and Happy Beaver Studios, Astoria, NY. The ltd. edition first pressing of this release will be a digi-pack incl. the bonus track “Once Upon A Time”.

Watch out for a full European tour in Spring 2007!
