Biss, the German band built around guitar hero Ralf Heyne, can’t keep lead vocalists for longer than one album. “Biss” featured ex-Victory shouter Fernando Garcia, the follow-up “Joker In The Deck” featured ex-Jaded Heart vocalist Michael Bormann and now it’s time to introduce you to number 3: ex-Krokus howler Marc Storace. The consequence is that it’s becoming more and more difficult for the band to sound original. Although the new album is OK, I can’t help thinking of Krokus when listening to it. After all Storace’s voice sounds so recognizable that he’s probably leaving his mark on the material far more than he’s willing to do. Anyway, among the tracks that give me most satisfaction are “Pyromania” (which has nothing to do with Def Leppard), “Raise The Hammer” and “Fire In The Night”. Good old heavy rock without frills is what you can expect from these guys, which is perfect when you need to let of some steam…

The only original member of Biss,the guitarist Ralf Heyne has been bandmate with quite a few members through the years such as:Jos Zoomer (Vandenberg),Barend Courbois (Vengeance),Fernando Garcia (Victory),Michael Bormann (Jaded Heart) and now also Marc Storace (Krokus) has joined forces on the new album "Face Off". I remember their previous album "Joker in the deck" from 2003 that didn´t stir up any waves on the sea of rock,but with their 3rd effort I can say that Heyne and Storace are fully armed and loaded with some heavy duty rock to create a huge echo between the alps.

It´s so cool that they have done a tribute to the band ICON on the song "Raise the hammer" which is the most melodic tune on the album,I wont go as far as saying this album is a new classic but with Storace stunning vocals and Heyne´s blistering axework - Biss classy melodic rock will make any 80´s metal dude smile.
